#HiddenFigures beat #RogueOne in final weekend numbers, grossing $22.8 million

Capitalizing off the “Empire” success, Taraji P. Henson got to work on a film of her own. The movie, Hidden Figures, is about the first three women to work at NASA. Starring Henson, alongside Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae, Hidden Figures has exceeded expectations.

As most know, just like all other industries, show business has many stigmas against women of color. Among them was that a movie with three female leads, of color, would run into trouble. But, there has been no trouble cultivating an audience.

The final box office numbers are in and Hidden Figures is at the top of the list. Once expected to come short to Rogue One, Hidden Figures debuted with $22.8 million in gross ticket sales. After discovering this, Taraji P. Henson celebrated the news via her Instagram, receiving congratulations from Snoop Dogg.
