Long before the internet rose to become as prominent as it is, communication was different. During this period of time, just before the internet reigned supreme, Hurricane Floyd hit the South. Six years before Hurricane Katrina ravaged New Orleans, Floyd hit the Carolinas.
The coast, where Hip Hop Vibe is located, caught it worse than any other area. Throughout parts of Eastern North and South Carolina, many areas never recovered from Floyd. With Hurricane Matthew preparing to hit the Carolinas, it is bringing back memories for many.
Hurricane Floyd, along with local areas of Wilmington and North Myrtle Beach are trending on Twitter, as a tornado has touched down in the latter. Yes, Hip Hop Vibe covers mostly entertainment news, but before all of this, we are based in Eastern North Carolina and, long before our existence, Floyd happened.
