Hurricane Ida is now a Category 4 hurricane, located 100 miles south of the Mississippi River, set to be “life altering” for Southeast Louisiana

Hurricane Ida upgraded to Category 4It’s sad enough that today marks the sixteenth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina hitting New Orleans, but now Hurricane Ida is following a similar path. Meteorologist Scot Pilie’ says Ida has now been upgraded to a Category 4. The storm is set to make life-altering impacts on Southeast Louisiana.

In 2005, Hurricane Katrina destroyed the city of New Orleans, along with the whole southeast. Because of the storm, people were forced to vacate the city. New Orleans is still recovering from the population loss and was really beginning to get back on its feet.

According to Meteorologist Scot Pilie, Hurricane Ida has been upgraded to a Category 4. Currently, the storm is located 100 miles south of the mouth of the Mississippi River. Pilie says the storm has max winds of 130 mph, lightning detected in the eyewall, which indicates rapid deepening, which is his way of saying it will be a life altering storm for Southeast Louisiana.
