Had it not been for the efforts of Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, MC Ren, and also DJ Yella, the Los Angeles hip hop scene would be very different. A lot of interest in the city and the West Coast might not have even been there. But, they did their thing, made history, and have a lifelong fan base.
Ice Cube and Dr. Dre joined forces for the Straight Outta Compton film, a biopic of NWA and their history. During the promotional run for the movie, rumors of Dr. Dre finally releasing his album began. Now, this album is all but confirmed.
Recently, Ice Cube, his son, and F. Gary Gray were in Philadelphia and paid a visit to Power 99. Here, they did an interview talking about the movie and Ice Cube confirmed his new album for release on August 1. They also discussed NWA, Suge Knight, Straight Outta Compton, and much more.
