India Arie calls out Janelle Monae and Megan Thee Stallion

India Arie is one of the more down to Earth artists in music and she’s gone through some things. As a result, there are certain things India Arie won’t be doing. While she and Erykah Badu did an impromptu performance of “Back That Thang Up” at the Soul Train Awards, she isn’t going any further. At one point, Janelle Monae said she stood for the same things. Now she’s out here taking her top off for the world to see. In addition, Megan Thee Stallion has been showing out from day one. At Essence Fest, both ladies put on a show, leading to India Arie speaking out.

India Arie predicted the future with her debut single. With “Video,” India Arie spoke on the pressures women face in trying to be “perfect.” Through the lyrics of the song, India Arie told ladies they are “perfect” the way they are. Such lyrics as “I know my Creator didn’t make no mistakes on me” highlight what she’s talking about. After that, India Arie sang about the different parts of her body that she’s in love with, if no one else is.

India Arie saw the performances from Janelle Monae and Megan Thee Stallion during Essence Fest. Both ladies brought a lot of attention to the festival with their antics. To India Arie, they were just that, antics. As a result, she called the ladies out for their action. First, she made it clear she has love for both Janelle Monae and Megan Thee Stallion. However, India Arie doesn’t want Black artists to be out here degrading themselves, which she feels they did.
