Hip hop expanded and showed it could become a multi-million dollar enterprise. First, the world was introduced to Master P, who became the first hip hop self-made mogul. In the years since then, Jay-Z and Diddy also made millions off the rap game. Close to a decade ago, Forbes began counting down the biggest earners in hip hop.
Since its inception, three names have consistently dominated the list and those names are always Jay-Z, Diddy, and 50 Cent. Jay-Z continuously topped the list for years, but recently he has taken a backseat to Diddy. Meanwhile, 50 Cent has also fallen down a few notches.
However, the “big three” made the list once again for 2013 and they were joined by current power-players, Birdman and Dr. Dre. Rounding out the top five, Fobes released a video of their calculations about the wealthiest moneymakers in the rap game. Diddy finished on top of the list, once again, with a net worth of $580 million.
See the rest of the list below:
2. Jay-Z – $475 million
3. Dr. Dre – $350 million
4. Birdman – $150 million
5. 50 Cent – $125 million
