Irv Gotti announces Murder Inc. relaunch is complete with deal with 300 Ent. [PHOTO]

The history of Murder Inc. Records is actually very interesting. No label, save for Death Row Records, has seen the types of historic highs and lows as Irv Gotti’s label. Starting in 1999, the label had tremendous success behind Ja Rule’s emerging career.

Initially, Murder Inc. was partnered with Def Jam and became an immediate success. The label came after Irv Gotti helped Def Jam land deals with Jay Z and DMX. After Def Jam, Murder Inc. had a disastrous partnership with Universal Records.

Not too long ago, Irv Gotti announced he was restarting Murder Inc., after a ten year hiatus. Going back to the basics, Irv Gotti is aligning with independent distributor 300 Entertainment, though they use Atlantic Records. This deal brings Gotti full circle, reuniting with Lyor Cohen and Kevin Liles.
