Isaiah Thomas talks hip injury, Celtics, money, why he called Danny Ainge about going back to Boston, and signing with the Nuggets

Truth of the matter is that a person never knows when it’s over, until it is. Just a year ago, Isaiah Thomas led the Boston Celtics to an improbable first seed, with only 53 wins. Then, an odd playoff run led them to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Injuries caught up to IT, in a series where they only led in one game, so he sat it out. The injuries led to the Celtics trading him for Kyrie Irving, on the heels of signing Gordon Hayward. After leaving Boston, IT hasn’t been the same, and he signed with Denver at the veterans’ minimum.

Isaiah Thomas recently talked to Adrian Woj at ESPN about this whole situation. Despite saying he was “F’d over,” IT says he understands his hip is a liability, and he understands it’s more about proving himself than getting the max contract, this summer, despite where he thought he’d be. IT also confirmed rumors that he called Danny Ainge, but the focus was more on Marcus Smart, and he said he doesn’t hold grudges.
