For most of 2014, it looked as if J. Cole would be taking the year off, for the most part. However, J. Cole had much bigger plans for the hip hop industry. In the closing weeks of 2014, J. Cole dropped 2014 Forest Hills Drive, the highest-selling album of the year.

Early in 2015, J. Cole was revealed as the first hip hop artist to go platinum with no features in twenty-five years. A month later, Jay Z revealed J. Cole was one of the TIDAL partners. While the second situation has seen mixed reviews, J. Cole is still succeeding.

J. Cole has continued his Forest Hills Drive tour and it has been a major success, proving exactly why he went platinum in the first place. It takes a lot to sell out Madison Square Garden, but it was done by J. Cole. A snapshot of the arena was shared on Twitter.
