The focus of hip hop is back on J. Cole, as it was two years ago. Instead of his Drake-assisted “In the Morning,” all the attention is going to “Power Trip” with Miguel. The song has served as the perfect launch to his sophomore album, Born Sinner. Due to the strong reviews of his debut album, fans are excited to know his second album is in store.

“Power Trip” has done well, thus far, and the music video came out earlier this week. It has continued the trend of J. Cole’s success. Motivated by the popularity of his mentor and label boss, Jay-Z, J. Cole is preparing his own legacy. The music video has done well and it shows progression from his basketball-themed music videos.

Recently, J. Cole talked to MTV News, he spoke on the overall concept of Born Sinner and his new video style. Evolving from the basketball video themes, shown off in such videos as “Work Out,” J. Cole went into an entirely different direction with “Power Trip.” But, he focused more on his overall album during his MTV interview.
