Ja Morant always had the potential to be the face of the NBA. For all of the wrong reasons, Ja Morant became that, over these past few weeks. Ultimately, Morant is a good guy, and he took the time away from the league to better himself. While Ja was making himself better, people dug up his old Instagram account to make fun of him. The sad part is that he was only a kid when he had that profile. People used that to pass further judgement on them. However, Ja had the last laugh, as he got back into the profile.
Ja Morant turned the Memphis Grizzlies back into contenders. First, he put the team back on the map with his highlight reel dunks. The next year, Ja got the Grizzlies back into the postseason. During the 2021 NBA Play-In Tournament, Morant led the Grizzlies to a win over the Golden State Warriors. As a result, they made the playoffs. Facing the top seeded Utah Jazz, Ja Morant led Memphis to a Game 1 win. After that, the Grizzlies claimed the NBA’s second best record last year.
Ja Morant sparked a rivalry with the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 playoffs. While the Grizzlies got a huge Game 5 win, they lost the series. This year, fans looked forward to a renewed Grizzlies / Warriors rivalry. However, the Warriors’ struggles this season have made it unlikely that they will have a third straight postseason clash. Meanwhile, Ja Morant’s personal issues held him back. He was being made fun of due to his old Instagram. Recently, he got back into it and trolled people laughing at him.
