Ja Morant returned from his suspension and put the Memphis Grizzlies back on the map. Initially, the critics didn’t believe Ja could get Memphis back into the playoff race. But as soon as Ja came back, he immediately got the Grizzlies back to winning. Now, all of a sudden, all of that has come to an abrupt end. It turns out, Ja sustained a shoulder injury and he’s having surgery to fix things. This will put an immediate end to his season.

Ja Morant likely picked up the injury during one of his return games. Seeing how far Memphis has to climb to get back into the playoff picture, he likely opted to have his surgery now. While Ja is making it look easy, it’ll take a lot for the Grizzlies to make the playoffs. Even if they do, there’s a crowded West to contend with. Any of Denver, Minnesota, the Clippers and Lakers, Sacramento, Golden State, and of course, Oklahoma City, could end the Grizzles’ season.

Ja Morant had the Grizzlies on the verge of the West’s best record, last season. Had his incidents on social media never happened, the Grizzlies could’ve potentially made the 2023 NBA Finals. For two straight seasons, the world will never know. Ja’s season is ending now, as he’s having surgery for a labrum tear in his shoulder. Seeing how badly Memphis played without him, the Grizzlies’ season is essentially over, too.
