Ja Rule discusses his and Lil Wayne’s Gun Charge

In 2007, Ja Rule appeared determined to regain the position he once held in the rap game, hoping to have another run on the top. From 1999 until 2003, Ja Rule was among the biggest rappers in the world. Going into 2003, Ja Rule seemed poised to continue his run, but his unfortunate feud with 50 Cent led to a change of plans. However, Ja Rule appeared to put this behind him, as he prepared for his comeback.

Since Ja Rule’s decline, many names had come and went and the current focal point of the hip hop scene was Lil Wayne. During the Murder Inc./G-Unit feud, allies were hard to come by for Ja Rule and Irv Gotti. Birdman, however, stuck by Murder Inc. and supported Rule when not many others did. When Ja Rule needed Lil Wayne for a collaboration, Weezy gladly obliged.

The duo united for their “Uhh Ohhh!” single, which gained popularity on the internet and the music video was also popular. Following the video shoot, Ja Rule and Lil Wayne performed at a concert and both were arrested following the concert. That night would have a major impact on both rappers, as Lil Wayne served a year in prison for the charge and Ja Rule is currently serving two years for his gun charge. When Ja Rule was sentenced to prison, Lil Wayne spoke out, saying it was not fair.

Ja Rule has now discussed both his and Lil Wayne’s sentence. According to Ja Rule, the reason Lil Wayne’s sentence was lighter than his was because the gun Wayne had was registered. However, the gun Lil Wayne had was not registered to him. When the law enforcement searched his tour bus, they found the gun in a bag and the bus was filled with thirty people. Ja Rule, on the other hand, had the gun in his possession with the serial number scratched out. New York City has a strict gun law, so both rappers were still arrested and ended up spending the night in jail.
