No rapper has ever had a more complicated history than Ja Rule, who should be a legend, by all accounts. At his height, Ja Rule was outselling the likes of Jay-Z and Snoop Dogg. None of that meant a thing, when 50 Cent came on the scene, targeting Ja from the start.
In 2004, Ja Rule experienced a revival in his career, highlighted by him getting Fat Joe and Jadakiss to stand by him, on “New York.” The music video saw the whole NYC come out for him. Still, that wasn’t enough for him to maintain his presence.
Since 2005, Ja Rule has struggled to stay relevant, only brought out, when he’s being clowned for one thing, or another. Recently, Fat Joe went live, with Swizz Beatz, discussing Swizz’s “VS” series with Timbaland. Joe brought up a potential Ja Rule vs. 50 Cent battle, of the hits, to which Ja said he was down for, and, for once, he has a swath of support from Twitter.
