Jabari Smith Jr and Kris Dunn fight during game
Jabari Smith, Jr. and Jalen Green appear to be forming a duo with the Houston Rockets. In the aftermath of James Harden leaving, the Rockets became one of the NBA’s worst teams. They are quietly digging themselves out of that hole. With Ime Udoka as the head coach, Houston is on a seven game winning streak. Tonight, they’re hosting the Utah Jazz. This is where Smith got into it with Kris Dunn, of the Jazz.
During the 1990s, the Houston Rockets and Utah Jazz had a rivalry. When the Jazz posted their first ever 60-win season, the defending champion Rockets upset them in the first round, in 1995. Two years later, the Jazz would defeat the Rockets to reach the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history. In the 2000s, both teams returned to prominence during the same time. Again, they engaged in a rivalry, which lasted until both teams fell apart.
Jabari Smith, Jr. is a part of the Rockets’ new core, with Jalen Green. From the start, they made an exciting duo. However, the Rockets were not winning many games. When the Celtics officially fired their coach, Ime Udoka, the Rockets quickly hired him. The Rockets immediately began competing in their games. Now, they are knocking on the Lakers and Warriors’ door for the final play-in spot. With Utah being a dark horse, Smith was literally fighting Kris Dunn to prevent that from happening.
