JAMAL LYON LIVES! #Empire fans celebrate him surviving life-threatening bullet #EmpireFinale

While Andre (Trai Byers) is “Empire’s” breakout star, Jamal (Jussie Smollett) remains the fan favorite. Last season, he was the underdog everyone rooted for. But, Jamal saw some backlash this season, before his relationship with Skye (Alicia Keys) became a fan favorite.

Jamal, however, is the openly gay member of the Lyon family and core fans felt he was written out of character. Since “Empire” returned, Jamal is back to his normal self. With the season coming to an end, it was Jamal who saw his life on the line, when he got shot.

Aiming for Lucious (Terrence Howard), Freda Gatz (Bre-Z) shot Jamal by mistake. Fans were left wondering whether Jamal lived or died for a week and Jussie Smollett did not help matters by going on Twitter and pretending to leave the show. Spoilers revealed Jamal didn’t die and he showed up alive tonight, to the delight of “Empire” fans.
