Janelle Monae succeeded in getting people talking, in 2023. While she never positioned herself as the type to show her body, she showed her body. As a result, she had people calling her a hypocrite. Also, she had people talking about how amazing she looked. Just because she refused to show it, for so long, never meant she didn’t have it. Now that she’s got everybody’s attention, she’s decided to chop off her hair.

Janelle Monae carved her own lane, when it comes to the music. Initially, she was introduced as just another female R&B singer. However, she always made it clear she was an individual. As a result, she fought for her creativity. Ultimately, this led to her leaving the major labels, and creating her own independent movement.

Janelle Monae last had regular radio play, back in 2018. Her single, “I Like That,” was a moderate radio hit, during summer 2018. In addition, she signed Jidenna and he had a strong run in 2015. The following decade saw Janelle truly focus in on herself. As a result, she was showing off her individuality, at every concert she performed at. To begin this year, she is doing it with the big chop, cutting her hair down.
