During the spring, Janet Jackson made her return to the game. This was when news of her impending album was revealed. Many established media outlets attempted to refute the story, due to it gaining traction after Hip Hop Vibe picked it up, but the story was true.

Janet Jackson soon released “No Sleeep,” which became a moderate radio hit. However, the song received a major boost when J. Cole was added to the record. A more hip hop appeal was added to the single, as it progressed.

Earlier this month, Janet Jackson released Unbreakable, her first album in seven years. Debuting at number one with over 100,000 copies sold, the album broke Madonna’s record for the biggest drop, moving 19,000 copies the following week. A similar drop happened with Prince in spite of him dropping with Jay Z and TIDAL.
