The hip hop scene in Los Angeles began bubbling in early 2010. At the time, Jay Rock was the leader of the pack and he stepped up big time for the new generation. Feeling offended by Ice Cube’s album title, it was no one but Jay Rock who stepped up to the plate.
Helping to bring the spotlight to TDE, Jay Rock would quickly pass the baton to Kendrick Lamar. The following year, Kendrick Lamar swept the nation. Once Kendrick Lamar blew up, the focus began to shift to fellow TDE rapper, ScHoolboy Q.
Jay Rock did recently deliver 90059, his new album, and he stopped by Homegrown Radio on Real 92.3 to discuss it. In addition to speaking on the album, he discussed how he connects with his fans and how he keeps going. This year, Jay Rock has had a very strong year.
