Jay-Z exceeds projections with “Magna Carta Holy Grail” first week sales

Jay-Z 18It’s not too often that a solo Jay-Z album is released, so hip hop historians need to sit back and soak this moment in. But, the fact that Jay-Z’s Roc Nation dropped albums from the whole team is another situation entirely. Magna Carta Holy Grail is one of the best albums of the year, finally the fans and the critics can agree.

Partnering with Samsung, Jay-Z managed to move 1 million copies, digitally, in his first week of sales. Jay-Z became the first-ever artist to go platinum in a day, but the physical sales remained another ballgame. Initial projections had Jay-Z set to push between 425,000 and 520,000 in his first week.

As he always does, Jay-Z went above and beyond the expectations. Already, Jay-Z scored his thirteenth number one album, but the official numbers were not released to the public. The official numbers are in and Jay-Z is indeed a winner, once again, with his album moving 528,208 physical copies in its first week.
