Jay Z makes #TIDAL announcement, all artist involved part-owners, Twitter creates discussion about the new venture

TidalWhile Terrence Howard portrayed Lucious Lyon on “Empire,” a rapper-turned-mogul, he had big business moves planned. Many people, including those in the hip hop industry, became enamored with the show. As this was going on, Jay-Z was making real life business moves.

Music streaming is going on two decades, but it’s been the past five years when actual services were created to bridge the music industry to the music fans. This time period saw the invention of Spotify and other streaming services. But, now Jay-Z purchased Aspiro and TIDAL.

This evening, Jay-Z held a press conference to fully announce his new streaming service and his co-owners of TIDAL. The co-owners are Alicia Keys, two members of Arcade Fire, Beyonce, J. Cole, Madonna, Kanye West, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Calvin Harris, Chris Martin, Daft Punk, Jack White, Jason Aldean, and Usher. After watching the live stream, the people on Twitter had a lot to say about it.
