Moving to Brooklyn, paired with the addition of Joe Johnson, has paid off for the Nets, who are expected to make the playoffs. The last time the Nets qualified for the playoffs was in 2007. In the time since then, the Nets went from not only missing the playoffs, but spent a season as the NBA’s worst team.

The silver lining in the dark cloud always was the relocation to Brooklyn, along with the development of Brook Lopez. With Deron Williams acquired in 2011, the pieces for a future contender were set. During the offseason of 2012, the Nets added Joe Johnson, from the Atlanta Hawks.

Earlier tonight, the first game of the season took place. The Brooklyn Nets would overtake the Toronto Raptors and Jay-Z spoke on it after the game, saying he was looking forward to the rest of the season and is relishing being undefeated for the moment. Jay-Z would also tell the victims of Hurricane Sandy that his prayers were with them.
