Jay-Z talks “Smile,” influence of his mother, Gloria Carter, and more in part two of his Rap Radar podcast interview [VIDEO]

When Jay-Z returned with 4:44, many credited him for delivering his best album yet. The groundbreaking track, “Smile,” features his mother, Gloria Carter. On the song, Jay-Z revealed surprising news, when he revealed his mother was a lesbian.

This news came after Jay-Z revealed what happened with him and Beyonce. Turns out, the cheating rumors were true, and it was also the catalyst for Solange attacking him on the elevator. During the first part of his Rap Radar interview, Jay-Z spoke on all of this.

The second part of the interview saw Jay-Z speaking on more personal aspects of his life. He would speak on his single, “Smile,” and he addressed Gloria Carter. There were rumors about Gloria and he confirmed them on the track.
