Jay-Z talks #TIDAL, music streaming, and the future of music with Billboard

Jay-Z TIDALDon’t be surprised if Jay-Z is a billionaire by the time Forbes puts out their next list. There are a lot of people making big business moves in hip hop and Jay-Z is at the top of that list. The Roc Nation CEO made a big splash with his TIDAL music streaming service.

Although this deal was announced in January, Jay-Z had a lot more to reveal about the deal. He teased a big announcement over the weekend, rumored to be a joint album with Beyonce. Instead, it was TIDAL being part-owned by most of the music industry’s elite.

During the press conference for TIDAL, Billboard was present and Jay-Z talked about his goals for the new service. First off, he made it clear he did not intend to compete with Spotify and the others. Instead, all he hopes to do is give ownership of the music back to the creators, making sure the right people get paid what they deserve.
