Ten years ago, Jeezy launched his Trap or Die mixtape series. The series is considered a street classic and something that helped all to the legacy Jeezy has built. It turns out, there is an interesting story behind how Jeezy got to where he’s at.

Jeezy, initially, was Lil’ J, when he first made his name in the Atlanta streets. As he made his name, he changed his name to Young Jeezy and was soon signed to Jay Z’s Def Jam by L.A. Reid. When he launched his mixtape series, Jeezy revealed his industry friends advised him not to.

N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN recently hosted Jeezy at “Drink Champs” in Miami, where they spoke to Jeezy and Game. During the interview, Jeezy would discuss how he was told to not do Trap or Die, but how it changed his life. He also told the stories of already being rich when Def Jam tried to sign him.
