Jerry Springer passes away at age 79 after battle with cancer

Jerry Springer and his legendary talk show was the precursor to this current internet era. Before people had social media to pull their wild antics, they went on Jerry. A couple of seasons in, Springer embraced the raunchy topics. His audience obliged, chanting “JERRY, JERRY, JERRY, JERRY,” throughout his shows. From 1992 until 2018, Jerry Springer did his show. Five years after it’s ending, Jerry Springer has passed away.

Jerry Springer was not the typical talk show host. While he paved the way for this kind of show, there was much more to him. Before the talk show, Springer was a news anchor in Ohio. After that, he served as the mayor of Cincinnati. However, he would become more known for his TV talk show. This show changed the American landscape. Many daytime TV talk shows tried to emulate the formula. In addition, his production company produced similar shows.

Jerry Springer retired from his talk show in 2018. He actually launched a TV judge show, called “Judge Jerry.” While the show was entertaining, it failed to deliver what his original series did. This morning, Springer’s family released a statement announcing his passing. They revealed he was diagnosed with cancer, a few months ago. Recently, the cancer took a turn for the worst. When Springer passed, he was at his Chicago home, surrounded by family.
