Jimmy Butler talks leading Heat back to Eastern Conference Finals
Jimmy Butler is used to leading the Miami Heat on Cinderella runs, as he did in 2020. In 2021, the Heat took a sweep from the Milwaukee Bucks. Last season, Butler’s Heat led the Eastern Conference all season long. They took a 3-2 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals, against the Boston Celtics. Miami lost that lead and the series. After that, this season the Heat struggled, falling into the Play-In to make the playoffs. Behind Butler, Miami upset the Bucks and, tonight, the New York Knicks. After the Game 6 win, Jimmy spoke on this.
Jimmy Butler left a potential super team with the Philadelphia 76ers, in 2019. During free agency, he signed with the Miami Heat. At the time, the Heat were a good team, just outside the playoff picture. In the current NBA landscape, they’d be a Play-In team. Back then, they were a good team without a franchise player. However, Jimmy Butler came in and changed all of that. In one season, the Heat went from missing the playoffs to going to the NBA Finals.
Jimmy Butler led the Miami Heat through the Play-In Tournament to the eighth seed. Awaiting them was the NBA’s best team, the Milwaukee Bucks. Behind relentless play from Jimmy Butler, the Heat upset the Bucks in five games. After that, the Heat took on the New York Knicks. In Game 6, Jalen Brunson had a huge game. However, it was just meant for Jimmy’s Heat. When asked how the Heat did it, Butler told ESPN “this is what we do.”
