Jodie Turner-Smith recently appeared on “The View.” There, she candidly discussed her divorce from husband Joshua Jackson. During her first appearance on the daytime show, Jodie shared how challenging the split has been. As a result, describing it as “hard” and admitting that getting divorced “sucks.” However, she also emphasized that she is viewing the breakup as an opportunity for a “new beginning.”
Jodie acknowledged that her love life had previously been discussed on “The View” as part of the Hot Topics segment. She provided personal insight into her life amid her ex-husband’s new romance with actress Lupita Nyong’o. Sunny Hostin initiated the conversation by asking Jodie how she managed to see her divorce not as a failure but as a new chapter in life.
“In a general sense, in life, I really do believe that life is coming from me and not at me,” Jodie explained. She emphasized the importance of perspective, noting, “I couldn’t have the career that I have if I looked at things that don’t work out as a failure. Everything is an opportunity and it’s a new beginning. Yes, it’s hard, and it’s not easy, and it sucks, but what’s even more exciting is what is on the other side of that.”
The audience applauded as Jodie expressed optimism about the future. She also spoke about her four-year-old daughter, Juno, whom she shares with Joshua. Jodie shared a touching anecdote about how Juno reassures her by saying, “Remember, if you need me, I’m here. You can call me any time,” showcasing the strong bond between mother and daughter.
Jodie filed for divorce from Joshua in October 2023, citing “irreconcilable differences” and requesting joint custody of Juno. The couple’s date of separation was listed as September 13, just one day after they attended New York Fashion Week together.
