The year of 2016 marks twelve years since John Legend first made his debut alongside Kanye West. Both have come a long way since their respective 2004 debuts. In the case of John Legend, he is living up to his self-appropriated last name.
John Legend has won several Grammys and his work in 2015 caught the attention of the NAACP. They decided to award John Legend for his activism. Tonight, John Legend received the President’s Award for his effort, following a Jussie Smollett-led tribute.
In winning the award, John Legend really made ears perk up when he delivered his speech. Very encouraging and empowering, John Legend showed just how he has lasted twelve years, while stars have come and gone. The fans on Twitter have showered him with all kinds of love and praise.
