Juice WRLD’s Posthumous ‘Legends Never Die’ Album Set To Debut at No. 1 With 508,000 Units Sold in First Week; Becomes Biggest Debut of 2020

Last week, Juice WRLD’s first posthumous album, ‘Legends Never Die,’ was released. This project contained 21 tracks as it was led by the “Life’s a Mess” single featuring Halsey. Other appearances included Marshmello, Trippie Redd, Polo G, and The Kid Laroi.

Legends Never Die was on pace to have the biggest debut of 2020 but and now, this is official. According to Chart Data, it has sold over 508,000 copies in its first week. It is also one of the biggest top five streaming debuts of all-time. This project also beat out The Weeknd’s 400,000 units of his ‘After Hours‘ album that was released in March.

His family/team had originally announced the album the week of its release. There were rumors that it’d be 20 tracks long with other appearances by NBA Youngboy and Young Thug but that was far from the truth as close friend and fellow Chicago native, Lil Bibby, said that it was fake.

Juice originally became a star in 2018 with the success of his breakout hit single, “Lucid Dreams.” It has since been certified 6x platinum by the RIAA in the US and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It went on to appear on his debut studio album, ‘Goodbye and Good Riddance.’ His sophomore album, ‘Death Race For Love,’ was released last spring and debuted at No. 1. Fans also loved his ‘WRLD on Drugs‘ collab mixtape with Future from 2018.

Juice passed away in December of 2019 after an overdose of overdose of oxycodone and codeine. He reportedly swallowed many pills once he arrived at Chicago’s Midway to avoid being caught with them by the feds. He then had a seizure at the airport. Police ended up finding bags of marijuana and guns in he and his crew’s luggage as well. In the end, it’s great to see his fans still showing up in full force and continuing to support his music the way they’re doing now.
