Jussie Smollett Indicted By Special Grand Jury on Six Counts of Faking Hate Crime and Making False Reports

Just when actor Jussie Smollett thought it was all over, he gets roped back in.

A Cook County, Illinois, grand jury has just announced a six-count indictment against Smollett for making false reports in connection to the alleged hate crime where, according to Smollett, two white attackers assaulted him because he was gay and black.

This became one of the most speculated hate crimes in recent memory. It all took place near his Chicago apartment on January 29, 2019. Smollett’s claims two men dressed in all black assaulted him, pouring bleach all over him and attempted to tie a noose around his neck.

Chicago police spent weeks investigating the crime. It quickly became high profile. Investigators concluded that the actor faked the attacked incident with the paid help of brothers Olabinjo and Abimbola Osundairo. Smollett to this day has claimed his innocence and claims the attack really happened.

When Smollett was charged on 16 counts of felony disorderly conduct, the state’s Attorney, Kim Foxx, infamously dropped all charges in March. Well now the special prosecutor assigned to the case back in August has concluded his investigation, stating that Smollett will once again be indicted on charges related to making a false report.

“Based on the recommendation of the OSP (Office of the Special Prosecutor), a Cook County grand jury returned a six-count indictment charging Jussie Smollett with making four separate false reports to Chicago Police Department officers related to his false claims that he was the victim of a hate crime, knowing that he was not the victim of a crime,” he said.

Aside from the civil lawsuit Jussie is facing from the city of Chicago, it appears that the criminal element is back in play.
