Jussie Smollett removed from psych ward area of jail; Brother thanks fans for support, as Jussie is serving 150 days

Jussie Smollett removed from psych ward in jail

Last weekend, it was reported that Jussie Smollett was placed into the psych ward area of the Cook County Jail, in Chicago. This was due to him supposedly being at risk of “self-harm.” That came after the “Empire” actor was sentenced to 150 days in jail, after being sentenced, last week. 30 months of felony probation was included, as well as $120,000 in restitution, and $25,000 in fines.

This sentencing was for Smollett’s 2019 case of lying to police, after staging his own hate crime, where claimed to be the victim.

Jussie’s brother, Jocqui, ended up taking to Instagram to disapprove of Jussie being placed into the psych ward. After the sentencing, Jussie even claimed that he isn’t suicidal.

“So Jussie is currently in a psych ward at the Cook County Jail. What’s very concerning is that there was a note attached to his paperwork today saying that he’s at risk of self-harm. I want to make it clear that he is in no way, shape, or form at risk of self-harm. He wants to let folks know that he is very stable, he is very strong, he is very healthy and ready to take on the challenge that… has been put up against him.”

According to TMZ, Jussie is no longer in this psych ward. Joaqui went on to thank supporters, as he believes pressure put on Cook County Jail helped this situation get resolved.

“I want to make it clear that he is in no way, shape, or form at risk of self-harm. He wants to let folks know that he is very stable, he is very strong, he is very healthy and ready to take on the challenge that… has been put up against him.”
