Justin Bieber sells music catalog for over $200 million
Since 2009, Justin Bieber has been one of the biggest artists in the world. Fans were able to see his growth as a 14-year-old, all the way to his current stardom.
Bieber, like many other superstars, is also now selling his catalogue, for a major price tag. According to Variety, this was sold for over $200 million, to Hipgnosis Songs Capital. This was initially rumored for a month now, as the deal is official.
Whats included in this deal between Bieber and Hipgnosis are his publishing and recorded-music catalog, his interest in his publishing copyrights, master recordings and neighboring rights for his entire back catalogue, as those also contain over 290 titles released before December 31, 2021. As a result, Bieber’s songs will still be distributed by Universal Music and still be owned by UMG.
“I want to thank Merck and his entire Hipgnosis team and all of our partners involved for working so hard to make this historic deal happen,” said Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun. “When Justin made the decision to make a catalog deal, we quickly found the best partner to preserve and grow this amazing legacy was Merck and Hipgnosis. For 15 years I have been grateful to witness this journey and today I am happy for all those involved. Justin’s greatness is just beginning.”
This comes after Bieber announces last fall, that he was dealing with Ramsay Hunt syndrome. That caused him to have part of his face paralyzed. It even resulted in him postponing his “Justice” world tour, once again.
