During the 1990s, Juvenile rose to become one of the most-popular rappers in the game, as he was the first face of Cash Money Records. Juvenile eventually left Cash Money, but his star continued to shine brightly, but over time, Juvenile faded away. Once again, Cash Money Records is back on top, but his former group-mate, Lil Wayne, has successfully taken over the reigns of the label.
There was friction, at one point, but Juvenile has been on good terms with his former label for years, as he has gotten to know Drake. On his Take Care album, Drake remade Juvenile’s classic hit, “Back That Azz Up.” The history with Drake has led to Juvenile wanting him on his album. Jokingly, Juvenile said Drake owes him one after he allowed him to remake his song.
In 1999, Jay-Z recruited Juvenile for a song off his Vol. 3… Life and Times of S. Carter album, which was met with critical acclaim. In the years since then, Jay-Z and Juvenile have remained friends. Juvenile is hoping to cash in on this friendship in order for a collaboration on his new album. Rick Ross, arguably the biggest rapper in the game, has already agreed to be a part of the album, featured on “Power.”
