On Friday, popular Twitch streamer Kai Cenat held a massive giveaway event in the Union Square area of New York City, on Friday. Kai was reportedly planning to give out PlayStations, gift cards, and more. Therefore, that resulted in very large crowds at the scene, and a very hectic situation.

As a result, Kai went on to be taken into custody by NYPD, as well as fellow streamer Fanum. At the time, it was unclear whether or not Kai would face any charges, relating to the giveaway event. Meanwhile, that situation is exactly what’s taking place.

According to Fox 2 NYC, Kai is being charged with inciting a riot and unlawful assembly. Furthermore, it was revealed that many attendees were hit with objects during the event, and even bloodied. The giveaway was scheduled to take place at 4PM, but things got out of control at 3:30. In addition to Kai, several others were taken into custody.

“People were suffering out here. A lot of young people got hurt,” said NYPD Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey during a briefing, after the event. “We’re not against young people having a good time… but it can’t be to this level.”
