Kamala Harris and husband get booed at Howard-Kansas game
Kamala Harris made history as the first female Vice President of the United States. In addition, she is a Black woman. Both of those distinctions are a first for the United States. While most people are happy about the progress, not everybody is happy about the person. Indeed, before she was VP, Kamala Harris was a prosecutor. When Kamala Harris was watching her alma mater, Howard University, play basketball, she learned just how furious some Americans are. They were booing her.
Kamala Harris put herself on the map, during the early days of her time in the Senate. During the hearings, then-Senator Harris grilled many high ranking officials. When these court proceedings were televised daily, Kamala Harris was trending on social media daily. As a result, Harris had a national profile. In 2019, Harris decided to trade in on this national profile for a Presidential run. While Harris did not make it to the primaries, she ended up being on the ticket. After that, she won.
Kamala Harris, as Vice President of the United States, has caught a lot of heat. Just by being a politician of that magnitude, Harris has put up with a lot. In order to be a part of a national political ticket, that means having almost half of the nation voting against a person. A good number of those who vote opposite have a personal dislike, despite never even meeting the opposing candidate in person. More than likely, none of the people at the Howard / Kansas game knew her. That didn’t stop them from booing her, though.
