Kandi Burruss opens up on failed weight loss journey with Ozempic
Kandi Burruss, the 48-year-old Xscape singer, recently revealed her struggles with weight loss despite trying Ozempic, a popular medication for type 2 diabetes that many have used for weight loss. During an appearance on PageSix’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast, Burruss shared that her experience with the drug was not successful, leading to feelings of depression and frustration.
“I saw so many people who were trying it and losing weight. So I was like, ‘Okay, I’m going to try this.’ And I didn’t lose any weight,” Burruss said.
Despite her efforts, the medication didn’t curb her appetite, and she continued to eat as usual, including appetizers, meals, and desserts. Throughout her time on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Kandi has been known for her eating habits. Often, Kandi would complain about food. Also, she would often leave for food during filming. So, Kandi was aware of her eating problems. This would lead to weight issues.
As a result, Kandi sought to do something about it. That led to her getting on Ozempic. However, when the results didn’t pan out, Kandi had issues.
Her doctor was equally puzzled by the lack of results, as Burruss continued:
“My doctor was like, ‘I don’t know what the problem is, I’m not seeing this in other people.’”
The failure to see the desired outcomes took a toll on Burruss mentally.
“When you see it worked for other people and it doesn’t work for you, it makes you depressed,” she admitted. “Realistically, it makes you feel like, ‘What is wrong with me? Why is it not working for me?’”
After her disappointing experience with Ozempic, Burruss has shifted her focus to more traditional methods of weight loss, including working out, eating healthy, and using Hydroxycut. She hopes to regain the fitness level she had before gaining weight after her departure from The Real Housewives of Atlanta earlier this year.
