Kanye West made nearly $20 million off Super Bowl ad

Kanye West is in the midst of relaunching Yeezy and he’s off to a good start. Last year, Adidas briefly resumed the partnership. Their relaunch generated over $20 million on the first day. However, this relaunch was only to sell off the remaining inventory. After that, Kanye West began releasing Yeezy products independently. During the Super Bowl, he resurfaced with an unusual commercial. But, his team said it generated nearly 300,000 sales.

Kanye West became the wealthiest rapper in the industry, before it all came crashing down. At the height of Yeezy’s success, Kanye had several partnerships. The brand had the shoes via Adidas, the high end brand with Balenciaga, and the affordable products with Gap. In addition, Yeezy had a crossover product between Gap and Balenciaga. During that period of time, the company was worth over $5 billion. But disagreements with Adidas and Gap led to Kanye demanding the partnerships end.

Kanye West went on “Drink Champs” and made controversial comments. As a result, Yeezy’s partners immediately backed out. In 2022, Adidas briefly relaunched the Yeezy partnership. After that, Yeezy began releasing products independently, late in 2023. Early in 2024, Kanye did a Super Bowl commercial that most considered odd. However, it generated close to 300,000 sales, which came close to generating $20 million, which was a $13 million profit, as his commercial slot cost $7 million.
