Ever since 2011, “American Idol” has not quite been the same. Back in 2011, the series let go of Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell. They would later move over to Simon Cowell’s similar FOX series, “The X Factor,” which began to dominate the ratings and led many to believe “American Idol” was over.
However, the addition of Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey to “American Idol” in 2012 led to a resurgence in the series. Initially, there was high interest in seeing how Nicki Minaj would interact with Mairah Carey. No one is asking that question now, but they find solace in knowing Nicki Minaj is not returning to the series.
“American Idol” hoped to replace Nicki Minaj with Kanye West. But, they received unfortunate news when Kanye West turned down the opportunity to do the show. He, through his media team, explained doing “American Idol” would ruin the reputation he has built.
