Kanye West scores wins at 2022 #Grammys, for Best Melodic Rap Performance and Best Rap Song

Kanye West wins two awards at 2022 Grammys

The Grammys are currently taking place in Las Vegas, as plenty of awards have been handed out, before the national broadcast set to take place tonight. Grammy categories in hip-hop, rap, and R&B have been announced, as Kanye West has just scored two huge wins.

Kanye has now taken home the awards for Best Melodic Rap Performance, and Best Rap Song. Best Melodic Rap Performance was for his “Hurricane” song, featuring The Weeknd and Lil Baby. That collaboration appeared on Ye’s chart-topping “Donda” album, in 2021. Hurricane peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and is platinum in the US.

Best Rap Song went to Kanye’s “Jail,” featuring Jay Z. Like “Hurricane,” Jail also appeared on Donda. That was also the first collaboration between Jay Z and Kanye ever since they finally rekindled their friendship. Jail is certified gold in the US, and peaked at number 10 on the Hot 100.

Kanye beat out nominees for Best Rap Song, such as “Family Ties” by Baby Keem featuring Kendrick Lamar, “Bath Salts,” by DMX featuring Nas and Jay Z, “My Life,” by J. Cole featuring Morray and 21 Savage, and “Best Friend” by Saweetie featuring Doja Cat. Ye also beat out artists such as Doja Cat, Lil Nas X, J. Cole and Tyler, The Creator, for Best Melodic Rap Performance.

Donda was released last August, as Kanye had a very interesting album rollout. He had three listening events in Atlanta and his hometown Chicago, as there were also multiple delays, in releasing the album. “Donda 2” was also released two months ago, but only on Ye’s Stem Player.

Its also unclear if Kanye will attend the Grammys tonight. This is after his performance was canceled a few weeks ago, due to his behavior on Instagram, where he bashed Kim Kardashian, Pete Davidson, D.L. Hughley, and Trevor Noah.
