Kanye West’s “Donda” album goes platinum

Kanye West’s “Donda” goes platinum

Last month, Kanye West released the sequel to his 2021 “Donda” album. It was unfortunately only released on the Stem Player app, and not on other streaming platforms. Kanye emphasized that artists don’t make enough revenue from those platforms. Fans soon had to pay $200, to get a Stem Player.

The rollout for the first Donda was an interesting one, as Ye had three listening events at different stadiums. Two were in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, and the final one was held at Soldier Field, in his hometown of Chicago.

“Donda” was delayed two times, before finally being released in late August. It then went on to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, and became Kanye’s 10th straight number one album. Now, it has reached a new milestone.

According to Chart Data, Donda has now been certified platinum in the US. This is after selling 1 million units. 27 songs were available on the original album, as collaborations included Playboi Carti, Fivio Foreign, Travis Scott, Lil Baby, Jay Z, and more. Among the hit singles were “Hurricane,” ft. Lil Baby and The Weeknd and “Off The Grid,” ft. Fivio Foreign and Playboi Carti.
