With all the talk about “hip hop is dead” taking up the past eleven years, no one saw R&B and soul’s downfall. No new artists emerged, for years, but the OGs kept dropping big records. Simply, there was no new generation.

In 2013, this changed, when several new R&B artists emerged. Among them were Sevyn Streeter, SZA, and Kehlani. These three ladies are, arguably, the biggest voices in R&B, right now, aside from the veterans who continue holding things down.

Kehlani has enjoyed a triumphant year, where she managed to turn many negatives into positives. Her strong year will continue into 2018, where she will have a huge break. She is joining DJ Khaled and Demi Lovato on tour, news she announced via her Instagram, after the AMAs, last night.
