Kehlani talks SWV and Toni Braxton at 2017 Soul Train Awards
This year, Kehlani has seen her music hit the radio, and her sound has helped make her music quite popular. Over the past four years, Kehlani has worked hard. She is now seeing her hard work pay off, as her debut album, SweetSexySavage, performed well.
Inspired by 1990s R&B, Kehlani said TLC was a major influence on her debut album. Released last year, “Distraction” became a minor hit during the early part of this year. For her efforts, Kehlani is nominated at the Soul Train Awards.
EJ held Hip-HopVibe.com down on the Soul Train Awards red carpet and she caught up with Kehlani. As she spoke on her own music, she also talked about SWV and Toni Braxton, with Kehlani saying she’s happy to see both of them. She also talked about women in the music industry and perceptions that need to change.
