Early in his career, Wale was touted as one of those creative type artists who love all kinds of music. While people have mostly seen him create songs for the ladies, ala “On Chill,” he does have a love for all music. Above all else, Wale loves the old school.
The success of “On Chill” has Wale back on top of the game, but this wasn’t the first single off his album. His first single was “Set You Free,” featuring Kelly Price. That song samples Price’s classic “Love Will Set You Free.”
Tonight, Wale and Jeremih performed “On Chill” for the Soul Train Awards. As a surprise, Wale brought Kelly Price out, for “Sue Me,” which turned into “Love Will Set You Free.” The fans truly appreciated that, saying Kelly Price stole the show, and that she showed K. Michelle how it’s done.
