Kemba Walker is the Charlotte Hornets’ franchise player, what is wrong with these people? Hornets fans on Reddit go in on Bill Simmons for suggesting Charlotte trade Kemba and Malik Monk for Kyrie Irving

Honestly, nobody takes the NBA in Charlotte seriously. They won’t until this team proves they can make the playoffs in consecutive years. On top of that, they’ll need to win a playoff series. But, the Charlotte Hornets are not a bad team. Even last year’s 36-46 squad was capable of 45 wins.

This morning, Bill Simmons did his podcast, talking about the Kyrie Irving trade demands. Sports fans, and pundits, not familiar with the Hornets have suggested Charlotte trade for Kyrie. These people often say it would give the Hornets a “franchise player.”

But, real Charlotte Hornets fans know they have in Kemba Walker a franchise player. Whenever the Hornets have fallen apart, Kemba has always given it his all. From the game-winner in 2014’s opening night against Milwaukee, to getting into a shootout with Dwyane Wade in Game 6 of the 2016 playoffs, vs. Miami, he brings it.

Kemba Walker owns the Hornets’ records for most points in a regular season and playoff game, is the fourth all-time leading scorer, and led Charlotte to its best record, post 2004, last year’s 48-34. On top of all, he is an All-Star player with room to grow. Bill Simmons not getting that led to the Hornets’ Reddit page really roasting this guy and his commentator for their ignorance on Charlotte basketball.
