Yesterday, a rumor spread like wildfire that Kendrick Lamar was leaving Top Dawg Entertainment, the record label who he’s been with for over a decade. People originally speculated that Lamar was leaving to help run the new label, pgLang. Lamar has been quiet up until now, as the label’s CEO, Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, released a video of Lamar speaking in the background denying his departure. A Blue from Blue’s Clues toy was in front of the video as Lamar was speaking at the same time.

“Top, you got to stop them from smuttin’ my name, man,” Lamar said. “They been smuttin’ my name all year, man. You ain’t said nothin’, man. Enough is enough, man. Y’all done said I done shifted the label and all that, man. They must don’t know about that pickle juice that’s under your red cap, man. About that sweat — the sweat that’s holdin’ up that red cap together. Reason why it don’t fall off your head, man. That lubricant. You need to tell ’em the reason why that cap don’t fall off your head. So why would I fall off?”

Lamar has released four studio albums under TDE so far, with his latest being ‘Damn,’ which dropped all the way back in April 2017. Fans have been starving for another solo album from him and at their rate, it’s unpredictable of when that will happen again. Back in June, TDE President, Punch, said that Lamar’s return wouldn’t come anytime soon. Hopefully, that is not the case. Check out the Compton rapper addressing the TDE departure rumors below.
