Got to give credit to Kendrick Lamar for his 2017 run, because nobody came into this year checking for him. His last album, To Pimp A Butterfly won over critics, but did not have commercial appeal. With this album, DAMN., Kendrick managed to win both factions over.
Kendrick Lamar’s success coincided with DJ Khaled having a career year, along with Future and French Montana. Increasingly, it’s hard to overlook Cardi B and her breakout success. But, Kendrick Lamar has managed to log two hits, this summer.
The second of those hits is “Loyalty,” featuring Rihanna, which is silently becoming a radio hit. As the fall comes in, this looks like a major hit record. It has risen to become the number one song on rhythmic radio.
