Kendrick Lamar receives backlash for dissing J Cole and Drake
Kendrick Lamar took the game by surprise, when “Control” dropped. When he jumped on Big Sean’s song, he ended up calling out most of the industry. While the song ended up dominating the hip hop world, Big Sean left the song off the album. Eleven years later, Kendrick jumped on Future’s new project with Metro Boomin. On “Like That,” Kendrick subliminally dissed J. Cole and Drake. As a result, people have been coming for him.
Kendrick Lamar was hailed as the second coming, back in 2012. He released good kid, m.A.A.d. city and it was immediately listed as a classic. A year later, he jumped on Big Sean’s “Control” and had his onslaught against the industry. Now, Kendrick is back and doing the same thing. This time, he only had two targets, which were J. Cole and Drake. On “Like That,” he began going at J. Cole and Drake, without mentioning them directly.
Kendrick Lamar went at J. Cole and Drake, but he was met with backlash. He appeared on Future’s new single with Metro Boomin, “Like That.” When he came with his sneak attack, Kendrick sparked a major debate among hip hop fans. These people have turned it into a debate about whether Kendrick or Cole is the better emcee. Also, there are the people calling Kendrick out for not releasing music as frequently as the other two rappers he went after.
