There has not been this much anticipation for a debut album from a West Coast hip hop artist since Game’s The Documentary. Comparable to Kendrick Lamar, Game had the support of the legendary Dr. Dre and 50 Cent. Kendrick Lamar released good kid, m.A.A.d. city earlier today and has the support of Dr. Dre and Game.
Kendrick Lamar has been constantly touring over the past year. After a surprisingly successful album with Section.80 last year, Kendrick Lamar signed to Aftermath. Now on the large roster of Interscope Records, Kendrick Lamar is becoming one of the biggest artists in the game. In spite of the success of his album, Kendrick Lamar decided to record an official debut album.
After one of his performances in Las Vegas, Kendrick Lamar held a studio sesson and he discussed his then-upcoming album. Kendrick Lamar spoke on how good kid, m.A.A.d. city was compared to Nas’ Illmatic debut. During the interview, Kendrick Lamar also discussed being in the studio with Andre 3000.
