Kendrick Lamar talks Janet Jackson and the “Poetic Justice” video, touring Europe, and more with ThisIs50.com [VIDEO]

Even before Kendrick Lamar became as big of an artist as he has, he is credited for fully bringing Los Angeles back to the forefront. Stealing the show on Game’s “The City,” off his 2011 album, The R.E.D. Album, the stage was set for Kendrick Lamar to take the game over. Last year came Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d. city and now the singles.

Kendrick Lamar has been so big of a debut artist that veteran rappers have feuded over him and his music. Though it has died down in recent months, Game and Shyne exchanged several disses over Kendrick Lamar. Meanwhile, music has remained the primary focus of the “good kid.”

When Kendrick Lamar last visited New York City, ThisIs50.com caught up with him at the Roseland Ballroom. Once “Poetic Justice,” featuring Drake, was picked as the third single off good kid, m.A.A.d. city, Kendrick Lamar wanted Janet Jackson for the video, which did not happen. Kendrick Lamar spoke on this and touring in Europe before ScHoolboy Q crashed the interview.
